Here’s a quick preview of some BVox I’ve been working on. In the mix you have two high vocals. The melody of these high lines was actually the original vocal melody when I first wrote the song. It the line I heard in my head and its the one I hummed as I wrote and hummed along. When I think about it I guess its high because I sketched this melody line out using the right hand on my piano, which habitually lives in the upper part of the keyboard.
Anyway because I was unable to sing that high with any style (other than screetching) I opted to sing the next harmony down.
Then when I listedened I had two takes of the high vocal and one take below. The result still sounded like the higher vocals were the lead.
Ok so then I recorded another vocal line. A harmony even lower. The result four voices. One low, one middle and two high. Now when I listened back, with a little mixing and panning, I could make the middle vocal line sit as the lead.
I’m not sure what you can here on the video as it’s recorded on my phone but here in my studio I noticed some other issues that need addressing when mixing multiple vocals in surround sound. I’m making notes so I’ll probably do another post on this latter.
In the meantime. TTFN
